We're Growing Again!
Not so much in the physical sense, but in the scope of what we carry at the store.
If you've been to the store recently you've probably noticed that things have gotten shifted around. This is because we're planning on a whole new crop of products at the store. Something that really makes sense now that spring is around the corner. What we're talking about is active games and activities. We're talking Darts, Kites, Frisbees (aka Flying Disks), gliders, Yo-Yos and such-like.
We're all very excited about the range of products that we're bringing in. I know that I'm looking forward to getting my first kite since I was a kid. I think that you'll all find something fun there for you too.
BattleLore Meets A Game of Thrones: Battles of Westeros
As I have mentioned elsewhere, I have a deep fondness for the Commands & Colors game system. I also have a completely unrelated fondness for the Game of Thrones series from George RR Martin. In fact, I'm currently rereading the first book in the series for the third time... and loving it.
Well, Fantasy Flight Games has decided to take these two things and make them one.
Vote for GG in the Best of the Valley
http://www.valleyadvocate.com/
The Valley Advocate is doing their Best of the Valley voting and seem to have added a "Best Local Board Game Store" to the "Material World" category.
What would be great is if you, our faithful customers, were to vote for us. Just follow the link, make sure to vote for us in the Best Local Board Game Store area, and call it a day - or vote for other stuff that you like in the area
No More Star Wars
This is pretty huge. WoTC is passing on the Star Wars license. Which means that you won't see any more RPG books or minis past August (and nothing new after April).
This is a HUGE opportunity for another company - assuming there's another company with the deep pockets to afford such a license (I'm looking at you FFG).

Upper Deck Forged Over 500,000 Yu-Gi-Oh Cards
Woah... just woah.
Upper Deck has always been a company whose products we carry under duress. A few years back I had the displeasure to interact with some of thier reps and came away from the experience feeling like they weren't a company that we wanted to support. Unfortunately, we also have to support our customers so we have periodically carried things that they make due to popular demand.
My experiences always led me to believe that the company might possibly be capable of doing something like this.
