Ok, since the May 8th tournament was a bust (Oops!  Mothers day!) we're going to move the tournament Unlocked Tournament to May 29th instead!  Plan ahead, mark your calendars!

Format: 25 point "Achievement Unlocked."

Time:  High noon! (First dice roll at 12:30...remember, being on time nets you a free point!)

Entry: FREE!!!

Prizes: $25, $10, and $5 gify cards, plus other swag!

We're still trying to get some of the newer players to come join us, so AU is perfect for that (where the most losses can be a good thing!)

Achievement Unlocked works like this:

One list only of 25 points.

No time limits, but you want to get in as many games possible.  Winners of a game stay at their table, losers go find another person to challenge.

Each player will have a list of possible Achievements.  As you succeed in an achievement, you mark it off on your list.  For each achievement you have made by the end of the tournament, you get one point.  The person with the most points wins!

Scenario is Revalation (Found in the 2011 Steamroller rules PDF, HERE)

The following are likely achievements (others may be added or subtracted):

Oppressor: Knock down an enemy warcaster/warlock

World Ender: Destroy 100% healthy heavy warbeast/warjack with a single model in a single activation

Bounty Hunter: Kill a named character model with a non-caster character model

Charmed: Roll 3 or more sixes in one roll

Cursed: Roll 3 or more ones in one roll

Cunning Tactician: Win a game without using a Feat

Strike!: Kill 4 or more models with collateral damage from one attack

The Horror: Force an enemy model or unit to flee (Terror, Abomination, Massive Casualties, etc)

Relentless: Play 5 or more games

Victor: Win at least 2 games

Speed Demon: Win a game in under 30 minutes

Slaughterhouse: Kill all enemy trooper models before the end of the game

Master of the Arcane: Cast all spells on warcaster's/warlock's card, including animus in one game

Axe to Mouf: Win a game without your warcaster or warlock casting ANY spells or animi

Intelligence Gathering: Get your warcaster/warlock into the opponent's deployment zone

Monster Hunter: Destroy 3 or more warbeasts in one turn

Wrecking Machine: Destroy 3 or more warjacks in one turn

Slap Chop: Have a model hit an enemy with an open fist attack then a bladed weapon

BOOM! Headshot: Kill an enemy warcaster or warlock with a single attack

Redshirt: Lose a multi-wound solo from a single enemy attack

Athlete: In one game, perform all of the following: Charge, Slam, Trample, Push, and Throw

Stampede: Kill 4 or more enemy models with a Trample attack

Herculean Task: Slam or throw a model at least 6"

Grappler: Keep an enemy warjack or warbeast in a power attack weapon lock for two of the enemy's activations in a row

Tide of Battle: Get a unit of 5 or more models into the opponents deployment zone (entire unit must be in the zone)

Flawless Victory: Win a game without losing a single model

Strategist: Win at least one game by scenario (not a caster kill)

General: Accumulate more than 5 control points over the course of the entire event

Sportsman: Show yourself to be an exceptionally good sport

Tournament info has been updated!  Mark your calendars!

It should also be noted that new players are more than welcome.  If you don't have enough models to play 25 points, let me know and we will probably be able to find someone to loan some models.

All the more reason for you to start playing Warmachine and Hordes!

As an explanation for the Epic Beard Attack, "Achievement Unlocked" was invented by a Pressganger of Vermont named Matt.  He had an EPIC beard.  I mean this guy was like Grizzly Adams.  In fact, on the way home from a con, the other passengers saw a guy in the car next to them with an ALMOST as epic beard and commented that he might be trying to steal Matt's thunder.

Matt thus opened the window and yelled "EPIC BEARD ATTACK!"

Sadly, Matt died not too long ago, so another Pressganger and I fine tuned the tournament format in his honor.

My God, that was a helluva tournament.  My most enjoyable aspect was beating Charlie's Harbinger list.   Congrats to Jonah for coming in first.

I only have one question:  Where were you and why did you miss this tourney?  Some of you made it.  That is good.  Where were the rest?  But seriously, this was frickin' awesome.

You had better make it next time or some Rhulic friends of mine are coming for you, buddy!  :)

Agreed.  We ended up with 6 players, but I really expected more.  I mean, it was FREE!  I'd imagine it was something to do with the Memorial day weekend.

But yeah, a blast was had by all.  The more I think about it, the more I love this format.  I think the fact that no one is really thinking about winning a game (as seriously as in a steamroller anyway, where you NEED to win to advance) makes it so we can all just enjoy playing the game more.

Now I'll probably only have time for one more event...it will probably have to be the 26th of June (the 19th is fathers day...and we all know how mothers day turned out).

Do we want the same format, or should we do something else?  Do we want a bigger game like 50 points?  How about a two day event (25th and 26th)?

Would anyone be interested in ORIGINAL faction coins?
