This game just hit my radar today. It's a small skirmish game that uses 4-10 minis per side. The ruleboook is downloadable and the minis could easily br proxied with available GW minis (the official minis are available through the store but they all are heavily influenced by GW Warhammer minis).

I love the idea of arena combat so I've already downloaded the rules and I'm hoping to try it out this weekend.

I've never even looking into arena deathmatch, but i constantly see these models on Tabletop Gaming News.  I think they are BETTER than GW models.  I mean, DAAAAYYYMMMMNNNNN those look good.  The details are unreal.

TGN is where I found them. And you're right. The minis are amazing. Each one of them is like the most detailed of GW hero minis... and then some. They're on the pricey side as well. About $15 each.

As I work my way through the rules I'm starting to get excited about them. They look to be pretty good. To do stuff you roll your action dice AD to complete a task. The more dice you roll, the better your chance of success - but the fewer dice you have for other actions. It's D10 based, BTW.

Like Warmachine, there are certain univeral actions that everybody can do and some that are specific to the individual characters.

I think that damage can affect any of your existing stats which means that your abilities degrade the longer you're in combat.

One of the things that I like the most is that the audience is taken into account. The mood of the crowd can affect things that happen in the game - including having audience members jump out onto the field to help.

The game has a bit of a Blood Bowl vibe to it...

The models for the game are amazing, and very high quality.  If you are thinking of playing the game however, I would strongly suggest waiting a month or so.  They are currently in the middle of redesigning the game.  Avatars is a very smll company, and did not have the time to sculpt, produce, market, create rules for each model and playtest them.  The alternative that they came up with is great.  They are going to keep a small skirmish game where each model has lots of different things they can do, however, they are going to be making generic rules so you can use whichever models you would like to to play the game.  Supposedly each race will have close to 100 options that you can choose from when designing your character, and each option will have a point cost.

Their idea seems to be once they complete the set of rules, they will no longer have to create rules for each model that they release.  They have also hired a new sculpter so they can hopefully produce more models.

Interesting... and sort of what I was hoping. The only thing the current game is missing is the option to create your own custom gladiator.
