I just found this cool little tool that you can use to find color matches in different paint lines. Let's say, for example, that you have painted a bunch of stuff in GW Desert Tan but the store is all out of that color but you need something at least REALLY CLOSE right now.

Well, go to - http://colors.silicon-dragons.com/ - and use the tool. In this case, you would select "Paint Search," GW Citadel Color," then hit "Submit Query" at the bottom. This would give you a selection of GW colors to choose from. Select your color, then go down below and select Privateer Press P3 from the line (since that's the other line of paints we carry) and submit query again. It will now pop up the closest matches to your color (if you've been following along you'll see that it returns two colors as close).

Interesting tool. I have yet to check its results, but it seems like it would be handy. I do know that they two results in the above case as somewhat close, but not right on the mark. I would only use those as replacement colors if there wasn't any choice and I didn't need to be exact.

You can also try to match RGB colors if you like.

As long as we're talking about online paint tools, Reaper Miniatures has one too. It's called PowerPalette. This one is really cool if you use Reaper Paints (which we can order for you if you like).

Here's how it works. You upload a pic, PowerPalette allows you to analyse the colors in the picture and it will suggest paints that match the areas of the picture that you highlight. I would love to see a version of the tool that includes more than just one paint line.
