I just ran across this recently. It's sort of a Necromunda-like game but instead of limiting itself to battles in the underhives, it uses all of the armies from 40k.

I've only just started reading the rules, but I really like the idea of the game and a lot of work has gone into it.

You can check out the rules here - http://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0B1fsfcTnWUjJZjg1NTQ2YWYtNzhmOC00ZWIw...

And you can go to the community site here - http://www.deathsquadsgame.com

Jay

Hello,

Thanks for checking out our game.

I am Da Bank. Answer Mod for Mordheim with Specialist Games. I have been involved in Skirmish gaming for many years.

My pal Mordheimer and I started on this crusade 2 years ago this month. It started out with a game of Space Hulk with IG and Nids and has involved to this.

I hope you can get a chance to play some games and let us know how it goes.

Again, thanks for the feedback

Thanks for the kind comments! As Da Bank mentioned, this is a FAN effort and our goal is to ENHANCE the 40k experience. Death Squads can be played in many ways: as a single game, as a special condition for a 40k game or as a Campaign! The single game, just like most skirmishes, could last 1 hour (if you joke as much as we do)... so it is perfect for those lunch breaks! As a pre-40k game condition, you could use Death Squads to send a small but elite force to fight behind enemy lines for a specific objective... let's say a Missile Silo. The player who controls the Silo at the end of the game could get a special "missile shot" on the 40k game. The possibilities are endless.

The Campaign mode is THE reason for Death Squads! We all love the stories and background of the 40k Universe, and are fascinated by reading about the Champions that change the fate of the Galaxy. Unfortunately, we are 'force' to play with someone else's creation. With Death Squads, you create your own stories... following the path of your Officers from zeroes to heroes! With each game, experience is accumulated and new skills, attributes and equipment gain. You can see your Squad grow over time. So next time you play your 40k Army, your Commander WILL have a background... that will be completely unique and yours!

Now... this is still a Work In Progress. We have been working for two years (our Anniversary is soon!), and with the help of the locals (like Dozer and jd3) we managed to polish the rules and start creating a world-wide community of GREAT guys who share their ideas and help to continue to forge the game. The Core Rules are VERY solid, fair, balanced and fun... but still more work is being done. At the moment we are working on finishing the Chaos Cultists and the Kroot Mercenaries! Soon after we will work on the Space Marine Scout Squads, Adeptus Arbites, Rogue Traders and many more.

The rules are 100% FREE... we do NOT even accept donations! The only thing we ask (beg?) is that people join our community and share their opinions, models and experiences. We LOVE to hear about you and your group. Feedback is what keep us going!

That said, I invite everyone to visit the Forum to download The Living Rulebook (TLRB)... rather than downloading from the Google Docs. That link has been failing lately, and the best way to get the latest pdf of TLRB (from our new FTP access... thanks www.tabletopgeeks.com !) is by register on the Forum (it is ALSO free!)

C'mon... join us... we have cookies!
