The Academy has begun the greatest project in Earth's history: to send it's Contractors to meet the cultures of other solar systems. The people of Earth have learned to use the Academy's powerful rationalist philosophy to travel the stars. Now they turn that power to the exploration of the cultures of the galaxy.

Armed with the techniques of black ops anthropology, they engage with other cultures to learn and teach. But the contact will be closer than they could expect.
