Tier lists

You may have seen the "Tier lists" available to the Retribution, and Magnus in the recent release of the merc contracts.  We'll see more as the faction books come out of course...

Tier lists basically limit the unit options for your army, but in exchange give you specific benefits for meeting certain requirements.

It should be noted these tier lists are completely official in every way shape and form.  You do not need permission to use a tier list.  They are completely legal in tournaments and friendly games.  At the same time, you are not required to use them either.  They are just an alternative way to make a different, but themed, army list...for better or worse.
