So, Seth and I (and a lot of product from the shelves) will be heading out to Totalcon in Mansfield, MA this weekend.

This is a yearly pilgrimage for us and I'm really looking forward to it. Of course, I'm also always surprised by how few of our regulars head out to events like this. They're a heck of a lot of fun and well worth the time and expense.

Of course, we're primarily there to sell stuff in the exhibitor room, but we also get some gaming in. One of the highlights of the show is the big Car Wars event. It's just a blast (literally).

You can see a list of gaming events here - http://www.totalcon.com/prereg.html

And guests... http://www.totalcon.com/IndustryGuests.html

And Exhibitors... http://www.totalcon.com/ExhibitHallConfirm.html

You know, after coming back from Totalcon I still don't understand why more of you don't make the trip out to this con. It's so packed with gaming goodness!

Some things you could have done:

Played in a huge Flames of War tournament.
Participated in a regional Settlers of Catan tourney
Shot up and gotten shot at in the Car Wars extravaganza
Played D&D with one of its early designers

And you could have shopped in the exhibitor room that was packed with gaming goodness. I personally spent a lot more than I expected to, since one of the exhibitors brought a lot of classic GW stuff with them at really good prices. I ended up with an out of print Imperial Guard commisar, a new Blood Bowl team (high elves) and various bits and pieces. I also gave a guy $10 for a 20lb box of old minis (mostly crap) that turned out to have a full Balrog, Sauron and Saruman as well as an old Teronus: The Ultimate Dragon from Grenadier. There was also a smattering of old GW stuff amongst the primarily crappy old minis.

At the end of every con Seth and I usually discuss the fact that we'd love to be able to run something fun at the show but we always come back to the fact that we really need to be running the booth - which means that without assistance we can't really do it. If we had help...

A couple of noticably absent things from the show are Warhammer/40K and Warmachine/Hordes. Warmachine/Hordes makes a bit of sense since Templecon has become a real magnet for that game and it takes place during the same month. Still, there's no reason that Totalcon couldn't represent as well!

Warhammer/40K makes less sense. They don't do much 40k at Templecon and no Warhammer. So, Totalcon just needs somebody to organize it...

So if you've thought that you might want to get involved in something like this, now's the time to contact Totalcon and let them know. There are perks for running events at the show - like not having to pay to get in or stay there.

Well I didn't go because I already spent lots of money and time at Templecon, but what you say intruiges me.

I might have to check it out next year...
