Terrain Building Party
A couple of people have expressed interest in making some terrain. I was wondering if I could drum up some more interest and maybe set a date (or two) to work on some new terrain. I have some tools and supplies that I could offer, and I have a foam cutter set if somebody wanted to do something very intricate.
The way I see it, we could use new terrain for Uncharted Seas, Battlefleet Gothic, Hordes/Warmachine, and Mordheim.
[code:1]Brainstormed ideas:
Uncharted Seas
Islands!
Reef
Cooler Water board? Or Secondary Water board?
Battlefleet Gothic
Planets and Moons
Nebula?
Star Scape board?
Hordes/Warmachine
Smallish Tree bases (about CD sized)
Mordheim
Bombed out Buildings (multiple floors)
Bombed out Walls
Materials:
1 inch foam of the less toxic variety (I think I have some)
Used for buildings and Islands
Foam balls
Used for making planets
Elmers Glue (I have a ton)
Used to seal foam before painting
Sand (Nice Sand is sold in the store, or at pet shops)
Used for Beaches, adds texture to the forest bases.
Tree Foliage
Used to make forests on islands
Cheap Paint
Brown -- For Islands
Green -- For Forest Bases
Grey -- For base coating buildings
Two Shades of blue -- For Water board (if there is interest)
Black Spray Paint -- For priming / star scape
Press board
Used to make forest bases
Good for making bases for buildings
Foam Board
Good for making intricate buildings / details
Big Cheap Expendable Brushes
For applying glue and base coats[/code:1]
If you have ideas for terrain you would like to see in the store, ideas on how to build some cool terrain, and to volunteer materials or time post here.
The idea is that people can pretty much make what they like and how they like, but I currently have some very specific plans for all of these projects if some people want to take a less creative role. The only thing I ask is that if you use any of the supplies that I'll pick up for this is that you try not to waste the materials (Which means, have a plan, make something that you will use, hopefully make something that others will use, and don't use more materials than you have to; be practical!).
We have a bunch of foam balls, (found in my explorations of the cellar last night) and a couple sheets of foam core board, in black no less (nicer for chipping and missed paint spots, some very small unfinished crappy buildings, elmers glue, I think some sand left over from the river table experiment and probably some press board, but I think not of the right weight--too thick I think.
I'd be down for that.

Ok, I've gotten a few more volunteers for terrain building. We just need to set a date. How does 17th or 18th of February sound to people?

Indeed, I'm ready to build. I wouldn't mind heading up the Mordheim area, getting a set of cohesive, matching terrain pieces to build a city would be great. But I'm game for anything. Including offering my services as driver to the local art supply stores/ home supply stories for things we need.

I heard a rumor from Jay that Sunday, February 1st (the day after the auction) that he and Tony S. might be working on some Car Wars type terrain. I don't know if you all would want to tie in Mordheim terrain building with such a day. More the merrier and all that, or not.
Hmm, post apocalyptic meets ruined city of doom. I like it. To the Bat Cave!

Yeah, they met last Sunday. Then we'll be playing at Total Con!
This needs to happen again so that we can build some terrain for Infinity! Really, I had a blast using the terrain that we had in the store, but some sort of appropriate base to build off of would be great (as opposed to a dirt or grass-colored map), and I'd really love to make a subway station.
