Starting a Game Company
Sooooo, my name is Seth (not that other guy that you all know) and I am self publishing a self designed game through a company created by myself and I would like advice. Hrmmm... that is a mouthful. I have a full time job and am working on all of this as a side project *slash* hobby. I love games and have designed quite a few and now I am taking the next illogical step.
So, the game is called Death Cup and the company name is DrunkAssGames. I am new to this whole arena and have enlisted a lawyer to help me out with the start up side of the company and copyright legal crap, but I would like any insight on the publishing/distribution side.
Has anyone been on this long road before?
Many thanks in advance,
Seth Stewart
While it doesn't really help your company in the short term, have you considered showing (and attempting to sell) a game to hasbro or some gaming company?
it would get you some start up capital, and at the same time get your foot in the door to the industry since you could say, "Yeah, I developed XYZ for hasbro" to other publishers, loan sharks, etc.
