BF buy GF9
Interesting news.
Battlefront (makers of Flames of War) has acquired Gale Force 9 (makers of various game accessories).
Around the same time they also picked up a historical gaming mag... who's name escapes me at the moment. The mag had been around forever but didn't have a huge following as far as I can tell.
Very interesting.
I'm surprised GF9 was up for sale. They do have a lot of FoW products. I'd love to know if it was a plea to be saved or a final acceptance of a boatload of cash or just a happy merger.
I hope TT Wargame mags aren't going the way of Collectibles mags. The last one I know of, Scrye, just recently threw in the towel. Maybe they got it on discount. :)
Does this mean they're going to stop making warhammer stuffs??

As far as I know they never made stuff specifically for/designed by GW. Rather, they made generic token sets that simply worked perfectly for Warhammer & such. So I don't see why that would stop. "Charging" "Falling Back" and "Cannot Shoot" themes are too generic to be protected, thank god.

If we're losing the Warmachine tokens I'll be mighty unhappy...
Good for Battlefront, though. They've really made something of themselves, eh?

While PiP & GF9 parted ways this summer, there have been some alternatives. I had not really bothered to bring them into the store, once I clued-in to how few people use more than a dice or memory to indicate stuff. The most recet ones were some kind of generic "Angry Markers" or "Raging Plastics" or something like that.

I saw the "Hordes" markers and was less than impressed (except anything is better than the PiP plastics.) I didn't know that there was already an actual break between the companies.
Regardless, Battlefront is a good company. They'll take care of GF9.
