FREE RPG Night--May 30th: White Belt
The last Saturday of every month from 5pm to close is Free Role Playing Game Night!
This Month the creators of White Belt will be here to entertain us with their work.

We have a thriving local community of RPG authors and game masters and they have graciously offered to run one-shot adventures free to any and all interested. Each month is ususally a new system and often one you have never seen. So, if you have an adventurous spirit and a few free hours on Saturday come on by.
You need bring nothing but a willingness to jump in. Characters and all that will be provided or created on the spot!
From all reports, they've created a great RPG system for any and all settings, allowing for a lot of cross over in characters and tech levels. I'd give you a better description or point you towards a copy in ths store, but we've gone and sold out. But we'll have more available the night of the event!
By the way, if any aspiring Game Masters are interested in showing off one of thier own creations or just a module from a system they enjoy, please don't hesitate to contact me here or in the store. We welcome any game that a group of people from mixed backrounds and ages can jump into for a night!
As always, I'm happy to play or run something. If they're short on players, I'll try out White Belt, seeing as it's gotten so much attention from the gamers who like Indie stuff. If they end up swamped, I'll have Shock and a few other one-shots on hand.
What a bummer. It looked like all of them were having fun, but that's precisely the problem: it was 'all of them.' For a demo, they sure had quite a crowd going, none of them regulars. These were the artists, the beta testers, the people who were already familiar were the game. Seemed like a nice bunch, all laughter and good times, but it was totally cloying. I wanted to play, but I felt like a complete outsider, so I wound up sitting it out. Would have been easier to get in if either more people than me had wanted to play, or if they had brought less folks of their own.
Sorry, Kassidy.
As you know, it's been terrible getting any attendance for the Free RPG Night (aside from you
). So I specifically told them it would probably be smart to bring along some friends if he wanted, to avoid situations like previous events.
I feel bad you were put off from probably the most exciting open run we've had yet. But if my options are having too many people having a wild time destroying Seth's Tavern & Game Emporium or pulling employees away from the counter to try to fill the ranks and just cancelling future events, I'll have to go with the former. Oddly, I was actually really interested in jumping in with that group, specifically because there were so many people familiar & comfortable with eachother. What better way to see how fun things can get?
On the bright side, I've asked them back and they happily agreed, so hopefully we can adjust things a little to allow more newcomers to comfortably give White Belt a try.
Oy, and by the way! I just remembered Jiffy Con is this Saturday, and there will be tons of RPG's for everyone! In fact, if things get too full over at the Hampton Inn & Suites (that's the new hotel over by the Rotary) they plan on spilling over into the store!!!
You were absolutely justified in having them bring folks. It was just a little awkward for me. Maybe if they'd split into two groups it'd have been easier. Either way, it doesn't make much difference. Sheesh, where have all of the curious roleplayers gone? Come on, folks, crawl out of the woodworks and hop into these wonderful demos!
I know! That's one of my bigger scheduling regrets. I really need to be store guy on Saturdays, but I would love to jump in on these one-shots. Of course, I don't really like all the peripheral stuff of RPG's: working out characters, reading new rulebooks, etc. so this stuff is just perfect. Show up and go!

sounds like fun, sign me up
BIZZAP FOOL!
