The Summer Auction is nigh! Silent Auction: July 19th to 25th, Live Auction: July 25th

Here's your opportunity to turn your old games and armies into store credit toward shiny new ones! (May I suggest a box of the brand new Magic M10 Edition!!! ) Bring it all in. From role playing books, board games, CCGs and miniature armies to classic family games, from Chainmail codpieces to X-Box games; we will auction it all for you!

Maybe we'll even see another GIANT THOR HAMMER!!!

This is absolutely your very best chance of the Summer to pick up some great deals on used games and trade in those you got for Bastille Day, but just don't think you'll play again.

Where: Right here in the store, 228 Main Street, right between Country Jeweler and Taylor's Restaurant.

When: Saturday the 25th of July! Starting at 12pm and running about two hours. Note: we run a silent auction all week before the live auction on the 25th. This part starts Sunday the 19th and you can come in and bid on silent auction items all week long.

How: We are accepting items up to the day of the auction. Anything that sells, becomes credit for you to purchase new items. If your stuff doesn't sell, you can just take it back. Anything you win a bid on, can be paid for right then and there. So, be sure to come and join the fun, find some great deals and meet some other great local gamers!

To all you prospective bidders out there, let me mention this is really a buyer's auction! What that means is, contrary to, say EBay, there are generally a very limited number of buyers in attendance. You won't likely have a lot of competition for the things you want. You are going to score some really great deals.  So if you want a couple new board games, a big stack of bulk Magic cards or some video game from maybe a system ago, this is an excellent time to get what you need at really great deals.

Please note one new bit of information: All non-selling aution items not picked up within a week of auction closing will become property of the store. Please contact us in advance, if you need to make other arrangements.

I'll post my usual heads up.  I'm always looking for Shadowrun books, new or old.  If you have a collection of RPG books that you are selling it is worth separating out any shadowrun books into a seperate lot.  I'm looking to round out an American Flames of War rifle company.  I'm also interested in Call of Cthulhu CCG and LCG cards.

Magic is on the rise at the store so now is a great time to put your magic collection on the auction block, head into the store and get a game in.  UFS is apparently making a come back; another game that will likely get snapped up.  Boardgames pretty much always sell.

I'll probably unload some Magic cards to fuel my UFS frenzy. I don't particularly care for the Alara block, and I think that my Cinders are about as complete as they'll get, so unless I'm convinced to do otherwise, expect plenty of Alara-block and 'Tide-block cards. Always on the lookout for more UFS, as well as good RPGs!

Hi guys! Thanks for posting the auction early enough for me to catch it this time! Also please update your event calendar it's not on there!!!

I wanted to know if anyone is interested in the following so I don't haul it up there for no reason (I'm an hour away and these books are heavy). I'm a chick gamer with major OCD and a little obsessive complusive behavior, so everything is in good condition or better even though I've been playing over 15 years.

So here's the list I want to get rid of ;

Dragon Magazines (almost complete #250-#355),

2nd Edition AD&D books (all the Completes and Core books),

3rd Edition D&D books (again had almost all of them - some signed while at GenCon),

White Wolf (specifically Vampire the Masquerade and Werewolf before they changed all the rules and clans),

Dice (complete sets - from my old characters... I don't reuse sets too often, that would be bad karma),

Miniatures - unpainted - but primered- Dark Reaper miniatures (lots of chick ones I will never get aroud to painting),

Novels from various worlds including FR, Ravenloft, DarkSun and Dragonlance (most of these are out of print and very hard to find)

and Magic cards. I'm keeping my decks and some I like, but I have a 4' bookcase full of cards I don't use and I have no idea why I'm keeping them! Most of my cards are from 1994-1999 about then I stopped playing much.

DVD's okay too??? I  have a box full I'll try to get a list together (it's stuff I won't watch again)

So please let me know what I should bring and what I can find another place for. I haven't used most of it in 5 or more years so I need to get rid of it. I'm looking for 3.5 edition D&D books (the few I don't have) because we still play that 3-4 times a week in various campaigns. And new dice for new characters... Sorry guys, I won't sell Warhammer Quest it took me too long to find it!!!

And remember: 4th edition killed the creators of D&D Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, Coincidence it happened within a year -  I think not... "Rolling in their graves"

I imagine that just about any of those items would sell and are perfect for the auction.  Roleplaying books tend to be in demand, the newer the better so 2nd Ed AD&D books are a hard sell.  That doesn't mean that somebody isn't collecting.  In the past we have had some white wolf junkies attend which might snap up some pre world of darkness rule books.

Dice will go in a blink.  I suppose getting paid for your bad karma (what the heck did your characters do?!?!) is an excellent plan.  I think last time they started a higher minimum bid policy, so you might need to make bigger lots with these.

WIth magic fever sweeping the store somebody will probably be interested in bulking up their collection even if the cards are older.

Good luck.

Just a reminder; the auction is this weekend!  Get your bids in for the silent auction now and get your lots in as early as possible.

There are a few highlights I saw from my visit this afternoon.

First up is a very nice Vampire Counts army that isn't painted and in great condition, including bits.  There is enough stuff to field an entire army, or great if you want to exand an existing Vampire Count army.  I've already put a bid in, but this is a great deal if you were thinking about Warhammer Fantasy.  I'd say Vampire Counts are among the top 3 most effective armies.

Sticking with Fantasy there is also a nearly entirely painted Lizardman army.  This is another steal, they were just recently updated and it is a fun army to play with.  There are a ton of options in this lot, so if you aren't the type who likes to paint their own minis this is a great deal.  This is another very effective army, and this lot includes all of the tools you'd need to field a killer Lizardman force.  Included is an Engine of the Gods unpainted, which alone goes for half of the minimum bid retail.

There is still one more Fantasy army; Ogres.  These are also unpainted and have a lower minimum bid than the other two armies.  I'm pretty sure it is enough models to field an army and these are awesome models.  Ogre models have a ton of detail and the army is goofy fun, just hide these guys from canons.

For 40k there is a Tyranid army, my understanding is that it is a Godzilla force (runs a few very large and powerful monsters).  From what I've heard this type of force has been pretty successful on the tournament scene and is a great starter project for a new painter since it isn't all that overwhelming.

There is also a box of old Harlequinns.  This could be a great find for an eldar collector.  Also 40k related, I saw a bit box and the Space Marines half of the previous 40k starter set.

There are a few Magic lots that are worth checking out.  Including a full playset of commons and uncommons from Lorwyn and Shadowmoor.  These cards are rotating out of standard in a few months, but great for casual play or for building extended tribal decks.  This includes full playsets of Vivid lands which are amazing budget land for Magic if you like multicolored decks. There are a few cheap decks as well as a few lots of bulk cards as well (one of which includes a ton of foil commons and uncommons).  If you like Yugioh or Pokemon there are lots for those cards well.

There is a huge lot of Universal Fighting System cards going up on the normal auction Saturday.  It looks like 6 starters and who knows how many booster packs worth of cards, mostly soul calibur.  This game has been picking up at the store, so it would be a great way to get started with that game, particularly if you are a fan of Soul Calibur characters.

There are a number of Starwars minis lots going up as well, I imagine these would be a great way to get started in that particular game.  One of the lots looks like it has many boosters worth of models.

The lot that seems to have people the most excited is the Lightsaber + Megatron transformer lot.  Seth has to put a sign on it to stop people from playing with them.  That's right folks, these toys are irresistible for gamers.

There is a whole table covered with roleplaying books.  Some d&d 2nd and 3rd edition, white wolf, etc.

Out of the board games, I saw a few interesting finds.  Battlelore (a strategic fantasy boardgame with a ton of fun figures), futuristic risk including nice plastic storage for the pieces, Twilight Imperium (a super huge indepth space empire management game with a ton of pieces), and Descent (dungeon crawl board game with a configurable map).

Plus many more!
