WHFB 'Ard Boyz CANCELLED/POSTPONED/OFF.
>>> Tuesday, Sept 22nd: Due to conflicts of gamer weddings, Zendikar Pre-releases, and overall lack of sign ups we need to cancel this event! Provided there's interest, I would like to host another similar WHFB event in the near future, with the likelihood that it would be a shorter day, or multiple days and of course, there would no invite to a semi-finals.
We'll be posting about those options in the near future. With all that said, if we still have enough people sign up by Saturday, there is no reason we can't still do it. I just don't want the one or two people who have expressed interest requesting days off from work only to find no event.<<<
This month brings 'Ard Boyz...Fantasy Style! That's right! It was such a hit for 40K, we're doing the same thing for Warhammer Fantasy. One long day of brutal sword on shield, flank-mangling, bloody combat!
Think you can take the prize? Once again, you'll have to PROVE IT!
Fight your way through the Preliminaries on Sunday September 27th. This round will be held right here in the store. Doors open at 9am, Game 1 will start promptly at 10am, things should wrap up around 8pm. Long Day! I am looking on providing a half hour for lunch after round one. But due to the need to provide 3 hours per match, we need to run things rather strictly. Please excuse my tyrannical nature in advance. ; )
This will be a free event!
1st Place - A GW boxed set worth $60.00 or less
2nd place - A GW boxed set worth $40.00 or less
3rd place - A GW blister worth $20.00 or less
The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers will be asked to attend the Semi-finals. If for some reason they cannot attend, the invitation will slip to the fourth place finisher and so on.
Players who end up in the top three will be invited to the Semifinals held in select locations on October 24th. The winner of the Semifinal will probably, like last time, get an army of the race of their choice and the 2nd and 3rd place winners will likely receive generous online vouchers for GW's Web Store. These top three Semifinalists will be eligible to attend the Finals, which will be held on November 21st.
At the final event, players will compete for buckets of prizes, but more importantly, they will fight for the right to call themselves 'Ard Boys. So who will be the best this year? Are you pansies going to let a bunch of Warp-spawned filth take the title again or do you think you can wade through the Ork Chariots, Wardancers, Warpfire Throwers and Greater Daemons to claim victory?
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO BEFORE THE PRELIMINARY ROUND:
• Register on the GW Online Store - This is necessary for you to receive prize support in the Semi Final rounds onward as we are awarding Online Store vouchers to the winners. If you are not registered, you will not receive prizes!
• Sign up at at the store for the Preliminary Round. Be sure to provide the email address that you used to register for the online store. This is the email GW will send your Online Store Voucher to if you’re in the top three.
• Review the rules of the tournament and your army. Be sure to check online and bring any FAQs or other rules updates to avoid any possible rules disputes.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING GAME DAY:
- Your Army
- At least four copies of your army list
- Rulebooks and any other books you need
- Pen & Paper
- Dce & Templates
- Tape Measure
- Super Glue
And here's a link to the official rules now posted online...read them!

Some interesting notes from the online rules, certainly not a comprehensive list of everything you want to know, but things that popped out at me:
- Beastmen are allowed, using the old codex, but cannot use any Daemons or Mortals
- Skaven will still need to use their current army book, even with the new one coming out very, very soon.
- 3000 Points+3 Hour Battles=A Very Long Day. I wish we could split this into a weekend, or two Sundays.
- Named Characters are allowed. That would be more scary if there weren't perfectly super-powered Un-named units.
- There's no handicapping of armies. Granted, I think locally only my Daemons seriously rocked the boat of player skill equalling win/loss ratios. For the most part, it seemed to me player skill still carried our local players wins and losses, but I would not mind if they gave a negative initial score to some armies, (Daemons, Dark Eldar, Vampire Counts) and a bonus to some others (Orge Kingdoms, Orks, Dwarves) not sure where I'd put them all.

As I suspect many store employee/owner types are going to be pulled away for a wedding this day, I am looking for someone who might be interested in helping run this. Well, realistically, as I fear I may end up getting tied to the register, I am looking for someone to really run this. But failing that, just helping is certainly very useful too!
