There's not much info on the IC2V site, so I'll just copy you the whole post:

'Warhammer 40k' Animated Feature

Direct to DVD

Published: 10/12/2009 11:50pm

Codex Pictures will produce a 70-minute direct-to-DVD animated feature based on Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40k gaming universe.    The feature will use CGI and state-of-the-art animation production techniques, according to the announcement.

Codex produced three Bionicle animated direct-to-DVD features between 2003 and 2005:  Mask of Light, Legends of Metru Nui, and Web of Shadows.

I will believe this when I see it.

I'm not sure that I'll believe it even then.

Well, the potential grows for a big let down:

From the Ultramarines Movie Newsletter:

Award-winning animator and filmmaker Martyn Pick is announced as director on the ULTRAMARINES movie. Martyn is recognised for his distinctive style which fuses live action and animation.

Past work includes the 2009 feature film The Age of Stupid, on which he was animation director; London 2012, the promotional film commissioned by Film London and the London Development Agency; the 2001 US Budweiser NBA and the celebrated BBC promotional trailers for the Euro 2004 soccer tournament.

And the very exciting part:

Acclaimed Warhammer 40,000 author Dan Abnett is named as writer of the ULTRAMARINES movie screenplay.

With more than 30 Black Library titles to his name, including the Gaunt's Ghost series, the Eisenhorn trilogy, the Ravenor spin-off and two of the Horus Heresy books, Dan's storytelling skills and extensive knowledge of the Warhammer 40,000 universe made him a natural candidate for the role.

I just can't wait to be dissappointed after waiting a few more years/decades.

I'm a huge fan of Dan Abnett's work in the Warhammer 40k universe. I believe that I might have moved on to other things by now if it hadn't been for him breathing much needed life into their fluff.

When I recently heard that there was going to be a movie based on Warhammer 40k my first reaction was "what, another one?" because of the number of times this particular rumor has reared its ugly head. When it appeared that it might actually be happening this time my second reaction was "well, it's probably going to be crap" because, well... how many game-related movies can you think of that were good?

This video seems to be targeted at my second fear. The fact that Dan Abnett is involved in the script makes me really believe that there is a chance (however small) that this could be good. I remain unconvinced, though. I've been involved in the movie-making process.I know that the reason that there are so few good movies is because there are so many elements that go into the creation process that need to be right that the chances of a movie being good are pretty small. Any one of those things can degrade the quality of a movie.

Here's one of my favorite examples: Have you ever seen the movie Ladyhawk? It's a fun movie. Good actors (really, great actors) a decent script, well directed. But then you have the music... Hey, I'm a fan of the Alan Parsons Project but that music just didn't belong in that film. Every time the music comes to a crescendo it completely breaks your immersion.

So, if I seem less than optimistic that this new Warhammer 40,0000 movie will be good it's only because I don't expect ANY movie to be good before I've seen at least a trailer to convince me otherwise.

Here's hoping...

Well, the concept art, interviews and such keep coming. Maybe this movie will actually happen this time. Of course it's way out there still, but the Ultramarines art alone is worth pouring over when you get a chance.

There's a new teaser out for the movie. They make you register in order to see it. Try this link, though. If not, you'll need to go to http://ultramarinesthemovie.com/ and register to see it. It's not really worth the effort to register.

You can now preorder the special edition version of the movie. Comes out at the end of November.

Another trailer. It doesn't look bad. Though, I have to admit that if it wasn't for Dan Abnett's involvement I probably wouldn't bother with it.

So is Greenfield Games going to do a screening?
