Has there ever been some one element that has, on its own, begged you to play a game? This is one of those things:

It's just a star map.. of the galaxy from Traveller. It's zoomable. Really, really zoomable. It's hard to scroll around and view the thing and not want to start a Traveller game immediately.

I found that while I was searching for downloadable blank star grids. Traveller really does look like a very nifty game. I bought the pocket-sized rulebook, which contains all of the information from the full-sized rulebook in a smaller font. The character creation is interesting, and leaves me wondering how powerful a starting character is compared to other characters (you have a very small selection of skills, and none of them get particularly large in terms of dice modifiers).

Traveller is up there on my list of games that I'd like to play or GM. Right now, Iron Claw comes first, because I'm feeling the need for a healthy dose of high fantasy with swords and spells flying every which-way. After that, though, sci-fi seems like the logical way to go.

Favorite Games: Rifts, World of Darkness, D&D 3.5, Shock, 1,001 Nights, Alpha Omega, Trail of Cthulhu, MonsterPocalypse, Magic: the Gathering, Dust, Universal Fighting System, Last Night on Earth, Anima: Beyond Fantasy
