Question about White-Wolf and the New World of Darkness
Well, the last time I played a white-wolf game I was young, foolish, and it was the old edition.
Yeah! Apparantly while I was off in the land of D&D 3.5, they made a new edition of the entire series.
So here's my question: If you want to get into the nWoD, do you need to buy the core book (this one) or can you just get one of the other books? (Say Mage for example.) I wasn't too sure if all the character creation info was in every book or not plus, while inspecting the books at the store, I noticed all the books said something along the lines of "for use with the World of Darkness" but the rest was cut off by the sticker.
Thanks in advance!

Core book (singular). The one he linked to. Then setting books.
So, the basic purchase for playing Vampire would be the WoD Core and the Vampire book.
Thanks for comfirming that for me. As it turns out, I think my next purchase will be for Mutants and Masterminds. But if I still have work the week after next, the World of Darkness will find a place on my shelf.
Thanks again!
I have the core book, some general supplements, Hunter: the Vigil, and every one fo the Changeling books. If you'd care to loko through anything, give me a heads-up on when to expect you around and I'll give you a crash course on the system, or let you borrow books. :]
Thanks for the offer, and I might take you up on that. I'll be in sometime after next Sunday (when I have some more money to blow.) Anytime after then is good for me, so what day works for you?
I'm in the store working in the evenings Thursday through Saturday, and I show up on Sunday for an RPG. Any of those are fine, and I can easily stop in on any other week day, really.
It looks like we'll be seeing each other Tuesday, Kassidy. I look forward to learning about the system! Any time that you think would be good for you?
Any time, really. I get out of my only Tuesday/Thursday class at 10:45, then I'm free for the rest of the day. I could pop in at 3 and just stay there until you folks are out of school.

From what I understand when I looked at it as few years back, you do indeed need to buy the core books first and then buy the books for the 'world' you intend to play (mage, werewolf, vampire, etc).
