Hey all,
Just picked up a DS on a whim. What are some good games for the platform?
I picked up Pokemon Diamond and Puzzle Quest. Both are pretty good. The new pokemon game has some nice improvements over the previous versions, but if you've played any pokemon you know what you are getting into. One thing that really sold me on the new pokemon was the ability to play online (with optionally scaled levels) and trade online (which is done as a market place). This is a pretty awesome system, and I hope to put it to good use once I've played a little more. One of the flaws of the previous games was that it was difficult to find people to trade with. With the new trading system you can trade with anybody in the world while you sleep.
Another thing that I think is pretty darn cool about Pokemon Diamond / Pearl is how it interacts with the GBA versions. You can get slightly different spawns by having one of the carts in the GBA slot, and after winning the game you can migrate your old pokemon into the new game. So you can enjoy the end game zones with your old characters. I know it is just another gimmick, but it is one that I've loved since Quest for Glory. I can't wait to get my team of japanese pokemon off of my sapphire cart.
The only thing I'm a little disappointed with is that they didn't work on the touch screen input a little more. If they could have set up the game so that I never needed to use the buttons it would be a lot more comfortable. As it stands now it is a lot easier just to use the buttons.
If anybody is interested in discussing pokemon, or getting on board with my plan to make the ultimate machop breeding factory (male hitmo with firepunch, icepunch, thunderpunch, along with a female machop with a good nature) pm me and I'll start another thread.
I haven't sat down with puzzle quest for any extended period of time, so I can't really comment on it.
At some point I want to get Advanced Wars DS, and the DS version of tetris. Online multiplayer tetris just sounds awesome. Are there any good ds rpgs, strategy rpgs, action rpgs for the system? I really enjoyed Shining Soul 1&2 for the GBA, they were great little diablo 2 clones. A strategy rpg with more depth than Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced would be pretty cool too. Hopefully the DS port of front mission comes this year. Is there anything comparable to golden sun for the new system? Anything that you've tried and were really impressed with?
There are a ton of games out for the DS, but sadly a lot of them look awful.

Oh man, you have no idea what you are missing. A fighting type with great stats, three elements, and a powerful fighting move will destroy most other pokemans! That pokemon alone, properly leveled should be able to take on the majority of the end bosses. You get a tough pokemon with few weaknesses that can take advantage of the weaknesses of most other pokemon, that is worth the effort of opening a pokebrothel. I figure I'll trade the duds (the ones that don't get particularly good stats) on the pokefleshmarket.
The disturbing thing about breeding pokemon is that they make their babies in DAYCARE. Seriously what sort of day care is that old man running anyway? Let alone the fact that they typically don't even need to be of the same species. Even asexual pokemon can also be bred, but you need a Ditto, which is just a big pile of slime, to get the job done. In fact Ditto can make sweet love to any pokemon in the game that can reproduce, everybody apparently loves a big pile of goo. At the very least they programmed the game to keep you from breeding a child with its parents, but that doesn't keep you from breeding that same child with its sibling or grandparent (not that there is any compelling reason to do so).
