I'm hearing rumors of a large four-player battle taking place on a recent Sunday night. Rumor has it the game was played on an 8x8' surface and was pretty cool.

I'd love to read some details about the game here.

Oh man-o-man it was a back and forth game!

Hordes of Russian infantry and dirty Brit artillery mocked our glorious mechanized forces from across a vast field. Daring us to take their precious objectives.

So, being reactionary and a bit overly courageous, we surged forward....straight into a huge ambush of Russian HMGs on one side and very accurate Churchills on the other. Aufweiderzen anti-tank gun platoon. :( Who would have guessed these ambushers would, rather than be swept aside, keep at least half our forces nearly completely in check the whole game. I have since ordered reconnisance units.

The dirty Allied lines were looking farther and farther off until our flanking force began to show up, with a vengeance! Having a full platoon of Panzergrenadiers deploy on their flank and begin rolling was not a happy time for those skilless fanatics.

Unfortunately they managed to hold...or rather were held by the iron grasp of their Kommisars...until both Russian an British reinforcements began to pour in. And I do mean pour...like deluge, like flood, like tons and tons of bases!!! Being confident and well trained is one thing...being surrounded by scores upon scores of your mates is something else alltogether. The hope of blitzing onto the objective was once again slipping away from us.

Did i mention we took priority air support? Well we did and we were apparently a high priority! Never once were the skies sullied by the drone of Shturmovics or those horribly ugly Hurricanes. The Luftwaffe ruled the roost. Unfortunately, being so busy, they has few bullets left for our ground assault.

Time was on the Allies side. They still had the numbers and our flanking force was nearly gone, with help just starting to sneak around the ambushers, and taking casualties....but boy, do the Soviets have a new respect for the German Sdkfz Halftrack.

Fortunately, while Hauptmann Seth cried in his schnitzel, Hauptmann Aaron managed to keep his head, guiding us to victory. In a bold series of strikes, the German forces systematically decimated Podpolkovnik Jody's leadership. After calling a full airstrike on the Communist's #1 flag-waver--evaporating him and merely scuffing Major Tim's trousers--our focus was placed squarely back on those damn HMGs.

In a final feat of great courage, Aaron's remaining pioneers assaulted into the minefield in which the Soviets had dug their foxholes. The HMGs were silenced, and with that the Russian forces quit the field. The Brits had nothing left to do but put their hands up and join a long line of POWs.

Quick notes.

Nebelwerfers, and most artillery for that matter, mostly just pin. The game works like it's supposed to. Arty pins while a mobile forces closes and destroys.

Russian infantry fear German Halftracks...almost as much as German Halftracks fear US Infantry. :D

9 dug in heavy machine guns in a minefield can really make you want to break out with the Tigers!

Big boards 8x8 are really great for FOW!

The germans were being panzies for the entire game, they were just sitting there. They should have just charged the machine guns sooner, or charged my tanks with there infantry, and maybe they would have died. but no, the germans had to be cowards, and go after the russian command. Germans got nothing, and.......(going on and on with useless blathering)....and your little dog too!

our reinforcments came in a little too late, and jodys tanks wern't all that good. if we got something a turn or 2 earlier, we would have had half the table by the end of the game, becuase all of the infantry that was there, the germans would have been running, while trying to keep there pance on at the same time. my artillery did very little except for scare the germans from that entire flank, along with the churchills, that got rid of their anti-tank guns in one fel swoop.

and yes, this rock-paper-scissors game is a really really great game on an 8x8 table, it gives you more room to use those recce cars, and your transports, and makes ambush wicked awesome.
