Not really a game mechanic thought, but I'd like to see what everyone thinks about an idea from another pressganger had for awarding prizes :

One of the biggest problems I've seen is the "rich get rich and the poor get poorer" theory for tournaments.  Meaning the people with the most megas tend to use those megas to win more tournaments and thus get more megas.  So it sort of becomes this downward spiral for everyone else.

So the idea is instead of automatically awarding the mega to the over all winner, we'd have a special drawing at the end.  The winner would get 3 draws from a hat.  The runner up (or perhaps best sportsman) would get 2.  Everyone else would get 1.

The hat would be filled with MonPoc dice: one red, one blue, and the rest white.  If you draw a white, you just get the shadow unit that everyone gets for participating.  If you pull the red, you get the first choice of the monster mega or the store credit.  If you pull the blue, you get what ever is left of the monster or credit.

So thats the general idea anyways.  Since I rarely do any buy-ins for MonPoc tourneys, it kind ruins the blue dice pull.  So I need to think of a better 2nd place prize...

Any thoughts?
