Place the board between the two players lengthwise. The game board is made of 2 rows of 6 small holes known as “pockets”, and large holes on opposite ends called “mancalas” or “stores”. Each player has 6 pockets directly in front of them and a store to their right. Place 4 stones in each of the 12 pockets.
During a turn, a player grabs all of the stones in a hole on their side and drops them, one by one, in succeeding holes in a counter-clockwise direction. Players MAY place stones in their own mancala but they MUST skip over their opponent's mancala. Players MAY place stones in holes on their opponent's side. This continues until the player has no more stones in his hand. It is then their opponents turn.
Simple and Fun!
Always place all captured pieces in your Mancala (store) The game ends when all six pockets on one side of the Mancala board are empty. The player who still has pieces on his/her side of the board when the game ends captures all of those pieces. Count all the pieces in each Mancala. The winner is the player with the most pieces.
