In Root: The TTRPG, players take on the roles of vagabonds in the Woodland, adventuring from clearing to clearing and through the forest while a war rages in the background. You take on jobs for Woodland denizens, maybe dealing with nearby bandits or a dangerous bear, but you also take on jobs for the factions involved in the war. The Marquise de Cat might ask you to undermine the Eyrie Dynasties' advance into a nearby clearing, and the Eyrie Dynasties might ask you to kidnap an important leader of the Marquisate. Your actions will reshape the Woodland, and you will gain prestige or notoriety with the different factions to mark your relationships with them.
